hello, i'm kenneth kistler. i'm a new resident of bellevue, wa, and so far i love it!
i ride my bike to work and everywhere else, too. i believe in trying to minimize my impact
on the planet. i support environmentally sound policies with my purchasing power as a consumer and
soon with my voice as a blogger.
i have many other interests. photography, music, and
cooking are briefly covered in their respective sections. i love being outdoors; hiking
and frisbee are two of my favorite activities. i enjoy various crafts; beading, weaving
bracelets, and sending fancy letters especially. i love to read; primarily history,
technology, and sci-fi. there are many other things that i'll expand on later.
if you've taken the time to find me, i'd like to hear from you. don't be shy.

i've been shooting in digital since 1998. i currently use a cannon rebel xt. it's a great camera.
right now i only have the all-purpose lens that it came with, which isn't the best. i plan on
picking up some better lenses when i have the funds. nature photography is my favorite because
i get to spend time outside doing it. as for studio shooting i love abstracts, macros, and painting
with light. i particularly enjoy mixing up genres. for instance, i don't mind doing portraits if
i can play with strange lighting while i'm doing them. :)
i don't really have a portfolio at the current time. the galleries linked here are mainly just for
sharing pictures with friends. i do plan on putting together a portfolio and i will link it here.
i play many instruments, but the piano is where i'm most comfortable. the songs here were all composed and performed by me and appear in chronological order. each recording was a learning process so the quality of the recordings isn't the best, but improved a little as i went along. i haven't experimented enough with audio editing software, so each recording is one whole take and some warts are present. in some songs i experimented with overlays from my piano's memory, but i'm not entirely pleased with the results and in the future i will do any such shenanigans in software.
i would really still consider myself a beginning cook. i cook often, but usually simple things. i
haven't expanded much into fancier things. it's a learning process. i enjoy baking cookies and do
so pretty often. i also bake cookies for friends every year for christmas.
my friend karine got me signed up for a recipe website where you can keep your online and offline
recipes all together and categorized. at first i was more interested in the fancy things
she cooks, but as i was looking through my own recipes i realized what a mess they were! my recipe
bookmarks were so cluttered and my paper recipes were scattered and some were even missing. so now
i'm very glad to have them all in one place! and i can share them with friends! so if you ever wanted
the recipe for the cookies i baked for you they're all there on
my kitchenbug page.
here are some of the other miscellaneous pages i've made:
the internet is an amazing resource and i never tire of finding information. i've linked to a few of my favorite websites:
